Cybersecurity in 2015: From Theft to Destruction Richard Clarke is the CEO of Good Harbor Security Risk Management, a company that works with senior corporate executives, investment professionals, and government leaders to assess and develop strategic cybersecurity programs that mitigate organizational risk in the face of advanced cyber threats. Having worked for 30 years in the United States government, including ten continuous years as a White House official, Clarke served three consecutive Presidents as Special Assistant to the President for Global Affairs, Special Advisor to the President for Cyberspace, and National Coordinator for Security and Counter-terrorism. Prior to his White House years, Clarke served as a diplomat, including as Assistant Secretary of State and held other positions in the State Department and the Pentagon for 20 years. Since leaving government in 2003, Clarke was an on-air consultant for ABC News for 10 years, taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government for five years, and has written six books, both fiction and non-fiction, including the national number one best seller Against All Enemies and Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It. His newest Novel, Sting of the Drone, was released in May 2014. In addition to his work at Good Harbor, Clarke served or currently serves in several advisory or board capacities, including member of President Obama's Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technology and the Virginia Cyber Security Commission; chairman of the Board of Governors, Middle East Institute; and member of the Board of Directors of Veracode and of Bit9. Clarke is the second speaker in the Athenaeum Series on Diplomacy and International Security in Honor of George F. Kennan, which was established through a generous gift from Craig and Valerie Richardson P '15.
